Traditional Background

It is a perfect combination for cholas.

Estimated cooking time : 60 mins and 8 hours of overnight preparation.


All-purpose Flour - 250 gm
Curd - 100 gm
Cooking oil - 1 cup (medium sized)


Mix curd into maida and knead it well to make a soft dough.Keep it overnight covered with wet cloth. Let it ferment well.
For deep Frying
  1. Make small balls from dough.
  2. Roll the balls and flat them into oval or round shape.
  3. Deep fry these round shape called bathura using perforated spoon or jharani.
  4. Once the bhaturas are puffed, remove excess oil using perforated spoon.
Serve these hot puffed bhatura in a plate with hot cholas and mango pickle.

Storage Tips - Must be consumed within 1 day of preparation.
